Location: Point Nepean - 3880 Point Nepean Road, Portsea VIC 3944 Distance: Approximately 8km (4km each way), however I would say more like 10km! Amenities: Toilets, Picnic tables, Visitors centre, Cafe Terrain: Sandy trail and road Why I love this walk!
One of my favourite walks ever! History and ah-may-zing scenery all in one. I say 8km, that's if you walk on the road from the Quarantine Station carpark straight to Fort Nepean. However there are trails closer to the beach which makes the walk a little longer, but also a little nicer too! There are lots of view points and historical markers along the way to stop at. Also! You want to explore the Fort at the end! It is so interesting to learn about the involvement that the fort had in protecting the Port Phillip Bay during both WW1 and WW2. Check out this link here to the Parks Victoria website where you can download the map and learn more about the Point Nepean National Park. Its a pretty cool place!
