Location: Churchill Island - Samual Amess Drive, Churchill Island VIC 3925
Distance: 4km Island Loop Amenities: Toilets, BBQs, Picnic tables, Visitors Centre. Terrain: Dirt track, a few small hills Why I love this walk! Very short and sweet, with lots of animals to see! There are horses and sheep at the visitors centre, as well as Highland cows in the paddocks and lots of wild geese and birds all around the island. Perfect for taking the kids and a very pram friendly track. Churchill Island is just near the Phillip Island Chocolate Factory too...

Location: Point Nepean - 3880 Point Nepean Road, Portsea VIC 3944 Distance: Approximately 8km (4km each way), however I would say more like 10km! Amenities: Toilets, Picnic tables, Visitors centre, Cafe Terrain: Sandy trail and road Why I love this walk!
One of my favourite walks ever! History and ah-may-zing scenery all in one. I say 8km, that's if you walk on the road from the Quarantine Station carpark straight to Fort Nepean. However there are trails closer to the beach which makes the walk a little longer, but also a little nicer too! There are lots of view points and historical markers along the way to stop at. Also! You want to explore the Fort at the end! It is so interesting to learn about the involvement that the fort had in protecting the Port Phillip Bay during both WW1 and WW2. Check out this link here to the Parks Victoria website where you can download the map and learn more about the Point Nepean National Park. Its a pretty cool place! Location: Starts at Point King Road, Sorrento VIC 3943 Distance: 8km (4km each way) Amenities: Toilets, BBQs, Picnic tables located at Sorrento Park Terrain: Dirt track, road and footpath Why I love this walk! Views! Incredible views that the million dollar houses along the Sorrento bay beach coastline get to enjoy from the comfort of their own home... (the other half huh!!) You actually walk a little through some of the backyards of some of the properties (crown land - totally legal! But of course have respect for the properties). To make this walk a little longer I like to extend it and walk all the way to Sorrento Park or to the Sorrento Pier. If you take your card with you, stop for a coffee on the beach! Distance: 10km (5km each way) Amenities: Toilets, Picnic table Terrain: Dirt track Why I love this walk! I love a nice coastline walk, and this one does not disappoint! There are many viewpoints along the way, and lots of stairs down to beaches and coves. I have been both in the morning and afternoon, both are spectacular, but the sunset over the water would have to be my favourite! If you are training for a run or an obstacle event, this makes a really great run. There are a few gentle hills on the actual track, and lots of stairs and big hills to go up and down as you deviate to all the coves and beaches. |
